IGGAD 2025:
Reconstruction through the Lens of Gullah Geechee and Other Communities within the African Diaspora.
February 20-22, 2025 | Coastal Carolina University
This talk discussed the visual memoir that illuminates and contextualizes the artist’s relationship to the Igbo tribe and legend of coastal Georgia. It connects the historic event to Igbo (and west African) cosmologies, and further to Black literary and oral narrative sources that informed the decision of those who chose to return by water. Drapetomania’s Tale and Igbo Landing as Portal’s objective is transcendent as it asks us to actively consider the three temporalities of past, present, and future.
Honored to work as a Researcher/Writer with the Black Seed funded "Celebrating and Centering Wilsonian Warriors" groundbreaking project illuminating the contributions of an eclectic group of actors, actresses, musicians, designers, producers, directors, and technicians part of Wilson's playwriting universe.
